Carré d’Art, Nîmes

The Carré d’Art project is a modern médiathèque in a historic setting. Located next to the Maison Carrée, one of Nîmes’ most distinctive Roman antiquities, it draws inspiration from its neighbour while maintaining a contemporary architectural presence. Integral to the project was the creation of a new urban space, which provided the catalyst for the social and economic renewal of an entire city quarter.
