Willis Faber & Dumas Headquarters

Ipswich 1971–1975

The headquarters for Willis Faber & Dumas challenged accepted thinking about the office building. Innovations such as the use of escalators in a three-storey structure, and the social dimension offered by its swimming pool, rooftop restaurant and garden, were conceived in a spirit of democracy in the workplace. It also pioneered the use of raised office floors, anticipating the revolution in information technology.
